Spectercide – Eliminates Democrats On Contact

Spectercide - Eliminates Democrats On Contact

Thanks for your years of service, Mr. Specter, but you played your State like a fiddle, switching parties as the wind blew. Now it is time to rid Washington of all the other elected officials who failed to listen to their constituents and voted for the Obama Health Care Bill. It’s time to let Washington know that we won’t accept this type of politics any longer. It appears that Obama really DIDN’T get the message when his party lost Massachusetts but it’s possible it’s starting to sink in after Tuesday’s elections.

What’s The Big Deal?

We’ve just passed a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn’t understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn’t read it but exempts themselves from it, signed by a president that also hasn’t read it and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn’t pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that’s broke.

What could possibly go wrong

Questions About the ObamaCare Bill

Q: What are the bills Congress is considering?

A: After much debate and many different versions and votes, there is now essentially one primary bill and a second measure that amends it.

1) The Senate bill, HR 3590, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, is based on the S. 1796, the Senate Finance Committee bill, and S. 1679, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee bill. HR 3590 was passed by the Senate on December 24, 2009 and the House on March 21, 2010.

2)On March 21, 2010, the House also passed HR 4872 “The Reconciliation Act of 2010” which made changes to HR 3590.

Q: Where are these bills in the legislative process?

A: HR 3590, “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” (aka “the Senate bill”) is expected be signed into law by the President on March 22nd or 23r. The Senate will then begin debate on HR 4872, “The Reconciliation Act of 2010” as passed by the House as soon HR 3590 is signed by the President and becomes law.

Q: What are the next steps of the legislative process?

A: As soon as President Obama signs HR 3590 into law, the Senate will begin debate on HR 4872 as approved by the House on March 21, 2010.

Debate of HR 4872 will be conducted under the Senate’s rules of Budget Reconciliation, a process which only requires a simple majority of 51 votes for passage.

If HR 4872 is passed by the Senate in the same form as it was passed by the House on March 21, 2010, it will then go to President Obama for his signature.

If the Senate makes changes to HR 4872, it must then go back to the House for further debate and another vote.

If the House and Senate do not reach a final agreement on HR 4872, “The Reconciliation Act of 2010”, HR 3590, “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”, as signed by the President following the House vote on March 21, 2010, will remain law.

The President And Congress Need Health Care!

The health care reform legislation would now become a joke if the consequences were not so devastating to millions of Americans. In an effort to quickly pass legislation in the Senate, regardless of its content, legislators are removing anything that would prevent votes from being lost. This policy which, originates in the White House, reflects the President’s demand of passing a historic health care bill this year regardless of whether or not it meets the original goals. The goals were to insure all (or at least most) Americans, lower the cost of health care as well as the cost of health care insurance and to regulate the health insurance industry to cover patients with pre-existing conditions and to prevent coverage from being terminated. Guess what – we aren’t even close to achieving these goals. In fact, health care costs will increase, available care will be reduced, Americans will be taxed if they don’t purchase private insurance and in the end the cost of health care and insurance will increase significantly. Worst of all, it appears that the President and many members of Congress don’t care. We now have come to the point where not only Republicans are against this legislation but now many Democrats also oppose it. Regardless, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi (with the help of the President) are trying desperately to find enough votes to ram this bill through. The latest NBC/Wall Street Poll now indicates that only 32% of the people of the United States are in favor of this legislation, but this doesn’t matter either, the Democratic leadership is still hell bent on passing this disastrous legislation.

We lost the basic focus of what the goals are. First and foremost should have been the reduction of the cost of health care. There are a number of things that can be done. Tort reform would have created a tremendous savings by limiting the number of tests and procedures performed only to protect against litigation and it would have reduced physician and facility liability insurance premiums which could have been passed along to lower costs. Allowing most insurance carriers to offer insurance in most states would have created additional competition which almost always drives prices down. Regulating test and procedure costs based upon many years of historic data collected by government resources such as VA, Medicare, Medicaid, could have standardized costs at lower prices for most tests and procedures. Allowing FDA approved prescription drugs to be imported from other countries like Canada would provide substantial savings. Correcting Medicare/Medicaid fraud and mismanagement would save and reduce costs by hundreds of billions of dollars. This could be achieved by contracting independent auditors who would be paid based upon what they identified and recovered, thereby not costing anything, being paid from funds that were previously not collected and lost. When you add up the potential gains of implementing these actions, there is no question in my mind that ample savings could be used to cover more uninsureds under the Medicaid program. The costs to move these programs forward would be almost non existent when compared to the current legislation.

Instead our government is attempting to pass legislation that will reduce Medicare/Medicaid funding by $400-$500 billion dollars. This is supposed to save these programs that are deeply in debt. What it will do is reduce reimbursements to physicians and facilities. This will reduce the number of physicians who will accept Medicare/Medicaid patients, increase the number patients accepting physicians can treat, thereby drastically increasing the load and reducing the time available to schedule treatments, which of course creates a rationing situation. There will be additional taxing on most Americans. Those in the $200,000 earnings category will be taxed, those who have high end health care insurance policies nicknamed the “Cadillac Policies” which includes many union members and of course those who choose not to purchase health care insurance will be taxed, although some choose to call this a penalty. Insurance companies will be forced to take patients with pre-existing conditions, but they won’t be forced to offer low premiums. Forcing those who can’t afford this high cost insurance to pay a penalty for not carrying insurance on top of dealing with life threatening illnesses. There will be government agencies involved with health care decisions similar to one that recently suggested that women under the age of 50 do not need mammography screening. Prescription drug importing has been defeated in the Senate. Tort reform is not part of the legislation. And the list of negatives goes on and and on. Even the former director of the Democratic National Committee, Howard Dean, is now against passage of this legislation. Yet the President and Democratic leadership is still trying to push to through.

The passage of this bill has required the President to make deals with AARP, AMA, the drug industry and the insurance industry to name a few. AARP was promised the Medicare Advantage program would be discontinued in favor of AARP’s supported Medi-gap program. AARP gladly supported the legislation for this trade off. The American Medical Association (AMA) which membership includes only about 17% of the doctors in the US was promised that a scheduled reimbursement reduction would be suspended if they supported the bill. Of course the AMA became a strong endorser. The prescription drug lobby agreed to a $80 million dollar reduction in costs to Medicare/Medicaid (basically peanuts) and support of the health care bill in trade for the continued blocking of importing low cost, FDA approved drugs from other countries. The insurance industry agreed to support the bill when congress had offered to penalize those who did not purchase private insurance, which would have increased the number of people needing to purchase insurance significantly. However, when congress dropped the penalty to $1500 the insurance industry dropped its support. One of the few groups that would not offer support for the legislation was the medical device manufactures. They were rewarded with a tax on their products.

If this legislation needs to be bought and sold to gain enough votes to pass, how good is it? If every political trick in the book is used, if every lie possible is told, if the majority of Americans don’t support it, if a large group of Democrats lead by Howard Dean and the majority of Republicans won’t support it – why in the world is it being pushed through Congress?

Our President promised he would govern from the middle – he has been far left, he promised transparency – there are more closed door meetings than public ones, he promised to reach across the aisle – there is no co-operation between Democrats and Republicans. Today there is only one thing he can do to have any chance of savings his reputation and re-election –scrap this terrible bill and start over with real health care reform and no deals for anyone.

2012 and 2014 Election Year Hit List

For those of you who are furious about the Obama Health Care Bill being passed in the Senate, it’s time to put together an election year hit list of WHO should be defeated in the 2012 mid-term election as well as making sure that Obama is a one-term President. He, Reid, and especially Pelosi have thrown their fellow Democrats under the bus with all of the strong arm tactics and sweetheart deals that have been made.

Senator Chris Dodd. Remember him? He’s the guy who remarked back on Dec 23rd “We Will Always Remember This Day!” after 60 Democrats approved the Senate version of the health care bill?

But, we the American voters will remember THIS day when election time rolls around. We will have you all in our sites when it comes to marking our ballots!

Up Or Down Vote Will Kill Democratic Careers

With Obama pushing hard for passage of a Health Care Bill many Democrats in Congress are beginning to weigh their chances of getting re-elected if they go along with his strong arming.

With little to show for his first year in office and the distinct possibility that he will be a one-term President, several are wondering why they should flush their political careers down the toilet on a bill that the American public has clearly said that they do NOT want. It’s been quite obvious to Democrats how the voters feel based on several recent elections, most notably in Massachusetts.

Now the President is painting new lipstick on a pig (reconciliation) and asking for an up or down vote, staying away from calling it what it is, “Reconciliation”. Even after his much publicized meeting with several members of both Republicans and Democrats to iron out differences, he is forging ahead with plans to invoke reconciliation for an up or down vote on a Reid/Pelosi Health Care Bill.

What a lying sack of shit he turned out to be! He had this plan in his back pocket the whole time he was ‘playing’ the Republicans to come to his summit. Pelosi all but let the cat out of the bag when she kept saying that she would deliver a vote to the President with or without bipartisan participation. We already know what a piece of work she has turned out to be. She isn’t too worried about her chances of re-election since she usually runs strong in her district. But, even if she should stumble and fall (have you ever noticed her chicken walk), it’s quite obvious that Obama would make her an Ambassador to some nice sunny place. We can only hope that these three individuals have a short career ahead of them.

Unhappy Anniversary

One year ago today, President Barack Obama signed the massive $862-billion “stimulus” bill. (You probably remember the number $787-billion, but the official cost estimate has already increased by $75 billion.)

3.3 million jobs have been lost since this day one year ago.

At the time President Obama signed the bill the unemployment rate was at 7.6%

Obama promised it would not go over 8%

Today, the unemployment rate is hovering near 10%.

Now, top Democrat leaders are admitting it did not (and will not) work. And they’re calling for yet another round of waste and special-interest handouts – this time they’re calling it a “jobs bill,” but it’s really just more of the same failed stimulus policies. One draft of the new “jobs bill” even included a bailout for chicken farmers in El Dorado, Arkansas at the request of Senator Blanche Lincoln, who apparently can’t tell poultry from pork!

Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) recently said the problem is that the bill wasn’t “as targeted as it should’ve been” and “we need to go back to this and do this again. We need to do more of that.”

Do this again, Senator Dodd?! Your colleague sure doesn’t think so (and, like you, he is retiring rather than face voters)…

Yesterday morning on CBS, Senator Evan Bayh said this:

“[I]f I could create one job in the private sector by helping to grow a business, that would be one more than Congress has created in the last six months.”

Once again, it’s up to you and me to stand up and stop more of this “stimulus-type” legislation.

In the coming months AFP will continue to engage our army of grassroots activists to become stimulus watchdogs in their states and communities. We will provide the tools and resources needed to track down grants and contracts, and then we will follow the money trail to expose corruption and waste.

Please contribute to AFP today to help us keep up the pressure and to avoid the wasteful government spending we endured in the last stimulus bill like:

$4.7 million for research to develop Supersonic Corporate Jets

$350 million to develop a Broadband Map that may be obsolete by the time it is complete

$1.3 million for states to spend on highway signs

$2.2 million to install a water pipeline to a golf course in California

$1.6 million for free water taxi rides in Maryland to relieve downtown congestion

Last year we sounded the alarm on Fox News and collected more than 475,000 signatures on our first NoStimulus petition. In 2010, we will continue to keep up the pressure and fight this massive spending bill that has already gone $75 billion over its initial cost estimate of $787 billion.

Today, I need your support to help us shine the light of day on these outrageous stimulus projects!

Thank you for all that you do for Americans for Prosperity. There’s no mistaking why and how we’ve come so far: it’s thanks to folks like you, who know how important it is to fight back and who have invested generously in our work.

Robert Gibbs is the Laughing Stock of Washington!

Aside from having to sit agonizingly through his White House press conferences while suffering through his speech impediments that consist of “Ahhhh…………Ahhhhhh…….. Ahhhhhh………..Ahhhhh” he was totally foolish in thinking that anyone would believe his comment on the Christmas bomber.  During an interview on FOX News Sunday with Chris Wallace, Robert Gibbs stated that the Christmas day bomber was interviewed for 15 minutes before being read his Miranda Rights and that they got all the available information they thought they would get from him.

Give me a break! Here’s a terrorist that just fried his balls with an underwear fire bomb and was more than likely asking for medical treatment. Gibbs wants you to believe that in fifteen minutes they obtained all that they felt they would get? This is just another example of how the Obama administration has weakened our defense.

We’ve also heard from Senator Chris Dodd. Remember him? He’s the guy who remarked back on Dec 23rd “We Will Always Remember This Day!” after 60 Democrats approved the Senate version of the health care bill? Well, he may be thinking about his chances of winning in his upcoming re-election since he is now telling fellow Democrats to  ”take a breather for awhile”. Isn’t it amazing what can happen when 40 becomes 41, as in Scott Brown’s win in Massachussetts.

So now we move from health care to the economy (apparently surgically-altered Speaker Nancy Pelosi didn’t get the memo) as the State of the Union address approaches. After one year in office the Obama administration is FINALLY going to focus on job creation. Their stimulus efforts were a failure, to the point that even the reporting had to be altered to fudge the job creation numbers. Obama will be talking about deficit reduction that in his words “didn’t happen overnight”. That’s true, much of it happened over the last year with him at the wheel, bailing out Wall Street, bouying up the auto industry, sending more jobs overseas with his Cap & Trade just to name a few.

It’s a laugh when he talks about getting back to
restoring trust and changing Washington“.

Quarterback Obama Is 0-4

It seems that our quarterback, President Obama, can’t seem to get the ball in the end zone and we should start considering replacing him with a new one. Consider his failures in campaigning for both New Jersey and Virginia gubernatorial candidates who both lost to Republicans, his trouncing on getting the Olympics in the U.S. and most recently, his failure to shore up Coakley’s Senate run in Massachusetts.

Yet, in his mind it is still all Bush’s fault. He continues to make remarks indicating that he just doesn’t get it. When he turned his health care reform over to Reid and Pelosi, all he wanted from them was a bill on his desk no later than his State of the Union address. The two of them, at all costs to their fellow Democrat’s re-election bids, strong-armed members to “git ‘er done!”. I’m sure that the two will be greatly rewarded down the road with some high paying ambassadorship for their now failed efforts. Reid’s in big trouble in his home State and should be thinking about buying a used pickup truck to get his belongings back home but Pelosi still seems to be in control of her Democratic San Francisco area voters, however, she may need to tighten up those lines again before another run for her House seat.

How quick the landscape in Washington will change come November as Americans go to the polls and continue to say NO to all the backroom deals and pork that got added to the over 2,000 page health care bill. It will be interesting to see how many copies of the side deals can be shredded before the Republicans get a chance to see the ‘secret’ bill. I’m sure staff will be told to work overtime and additional shredders will be brought in to accomplish the destruction before Scott Brown is sworn in. Wouldn’t you love to be a fly on the garbage dumpster to see how many times it gets filled and emptied with bag after bag of shreddings?

Obama, Harry Reid, and Speaker Pelosi believed that voters had given them a license to do whatever they wished. Now, it looks as though Obama and Reid got the message from Massachusetts voters but poor Nancy Pelosi continues to promise health care ‘reform’ no matter what. The difference in her continual denial is that she no longer puts a time line on it nor does she say it will be a ‘one-piece’ bill. It must be extremely hard for her to accept the fact that she will NOW have to reach across the aisle and include the Republicans who her and Reid kept outside of the locked doors. The arrogance that the Democrats have displayed since gaining the 60 Senate seats has come around to bite them in the ass and through the voters of Massachusetts the American public was finally able to send them a wake-up call.

Several, such as New York Democratic Representative Anthony Weiner is advising his colleagues to ‘take a step back’ from health care reform and concentrate on creating jobs. Others, up for election, are saying “Jump ship…………Obama can’t help you!” Even Democratic Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana is now saying things like “There’s’ going to be a tendency on the part of the people (Democrats) to be in denial about all this………if you lose Massachusetts and that’s not a wake-up call, there’s no hope of waking up”.

Voters in Massachusetts have jerked the chain of Washington politicians and reminded them who is in charge as in “We The People

Mr. Brown Goes To Washington!

….in his pickup truck as Americans across the nation THANK Massachusetts for their vote Tuesday.

And what an impact his election has made in less than 24 hours. Already the President has said that the people have spoken and there will be no rush to pass health care (although he still blamed the loss on voters discontent over the last eight years, thus blaming it all on Bush).
Harry Reid has backed off on ramrodding the health care bill through the Senate. Speaker Nancy Pelosi just announced that she no longer has the votes in the House to pass the Senate’s version of the bill. Democratic Senator Jim Webb of Virginia said that the Senate should not hold any further votes on health care UNTIL brown is seated. Democratic Representative Earl Pomeroy said “Full speed ahead is off the table” and “We are still very much in the exercise of drawing meaning from the public disquiet”.
Obama urged lawmakers not to try to jam a bill through but instead to scale any proposals down to those elements of the package that the people agree on.
What a difference coming out of the White House who had been acting in a dictatorial fashion, failing to head the wishes of the people.
Again, THANK YOU Massachusetts for sending Scott Brown to Washington in his “Made in America’ pickup truck with over 201,000 miles on it. This was definitely The ‘Scott’ Heard Round the World as the Speaker of The House was spayed and the Senate Majority Leader was neutered!
